Chandigarh, June 8 – Tau Devi Lal Sports Stadium at Panchkula has been prepared as per international norms for organising Khelo India Youth Games – 2021 in Haryana. Especially the synthetic athletic track, elevated and sand track has become the first choice of athletic players. Technical and Sports experts of Athletics Federation of India are keeping an eye on the performance of athletes which aims to select athletes for the upcoming Olympics and major sports events.

As Chief Guest, the Governor of Punjab and Administrator of UT Chandigarh, Sh Banwarilal Purohit attended the medal ceremony of athletes in the first event of athletics today.

Later, Sh. Purohit also visited the A-Star Scientific Training and Rehabilitation Centre. This is the first such center in North India equipped with modern facilities for sportspersons.

Thereafter, the Governor also visited Malakhamb event, one of the indigenous games included in Khelo India Youth Games – 2021 for the first time and enjoyed the performance of players on Rope Malakhamb, Pole Malkhamb and Hanging Malakhamb.

Appreciating these performances, the Governor said that in the true sense, Malkhamb makes sportspersons strong.

On this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary, Haryana Sports and Youth Programme, Dr. Mahavir Singh, Director of Sports Department, Sh. Pankaj Nain and other officers were also present.
