KVK organizes 5-day training cum demonstration on crop residue management

A training cum demonstration program on crop residue management was organized at Krishi Vigyan Kendra Fazilka. This program was organized by Dr. Kishan Kumar Patel, subject expert (Agricultural Machinery) under the leadership of KVK Head Dr. Arvind Kumar Ahlawat. 25 farmers participated in the program and made it successful. During the program, experts from various subjects shared technical information with the farmers and motivated them to manage crop residue properly.

During this program, Dr. Prakash Chand Gurjar of the same KVK motivated them to manage paddy straw properly and said that if we do farming by mixing paddy straw in the field itself, then not only the fertility of the soil increases but also the amount of fertilizers used in the field is reduced, due to which the cost incurred by the farmer is also reduced. Dr. Kishan Patel gave detailed information about in situ and ex situ crop residue management while giving information about agricultural machinery like Super Seeder, Happy Seeder, Zero Drill etc. During the same program, Harender Singh Dahiya discussed about various diseases and pests in crops and discussed in detail with the farmers about their prevention. Farmer Karnail Singh gave detailed information about how farmers’ income can be increased by producing mushrooms using straw. On this occasion, District Public Relations Officer Bhupinder Singh Brar shared information with the farmers about straw management and agriculture related research being done at his level. The main objective of the training program was to motivate the farmers to manage the straw properly and to make them aware about the benefits of proper management of straw. At the end of the program, information was given about various activities taking place in the Krishi Vigyan Kendra and the program was concluded by providing certificates to all the participants. Dr. Arvind Kumar Ahlawat, Dr. Kishan Patel, DPRO Bhupinder Singh Brar, Vijay Pal from Education Department and all the farmers were present in this program.
