Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Kargil, hosted a Hi-Tea Party to bid an affectionate farewell to retiring Chief Engineer, PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control (I&FC) Ladakh, Maqbool Hussain and Chief Horticulture Officer, Kargil, Mohd Zaffar at Conference Hall Council Secretariat.
The event was graced by Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, Executive Councillors: Kacho Mohd Feroz (I&FC); Aga Syed Mujtaba (Agriculture), and Zakir Hussain (Horticulture); Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Wani; Additional SP Nitin Yadav; Director FCS&CA, Tahir Hussain; Director RDD, Syed Sajad Qadri; Joint Director Finance, Iftikhar Hussain; Councillor Town; Councillor, Bhimbhat, besides other district officers were present during the event.
Addressing the gathering, CEC Dr Akhoon congratulated the retiring officers for their commendable service and wished them success in their future endeavours.
“Retiring from such posts is a great achievement,” he said, acknowledging the journey of Maqbool Hussain from Junior Engineer to Chief Engineer as a moment of pride.
On behalf of the Hill Council, the CEC extended heartfelt gratitude for their contributions and expressed hope that their expertise would remain accessible to the region if required.
The Executive Councillors, Kacho Mohd Feroz, Aga Mujtaba, and Zakir Hussain, also praised the officers for their dedication and impactful service to the people of Kargil.
Deputy Commissioner, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse highlighted the strides made by the Horticulture Department under Mohd Zaffar’s leadership, particularly in promoting apricots and apples to international markets. He lauded the contributions of both officers to the development of Kargil and extended his best wishes for their future.
While recalling the dedicated services rendered by the retiring officers, other dignitaries and officers also shared their admiration and hailed their contributions for having served their respective departments with utmost honesty and sincerity. They wished them a happy, healthy and prosperous post-retirement life.
In their speeches, Chief Engineer, Maqbool Hussain and Chief Horticulture Officer Kargil, Mohd Zaffar threw light on their professional journeys, achievements, and challenges.
They expressed gratitude for the support they received throughout their careers and sought forgiveness for any unintended shortcomings.
Later, a warm send-off was held in their honour and they were felicitated with traditional Khataks by the officers, officials and their colleagues.
