District level loan fair organizes for self-help groups

In order to uplift the living standards of women in rural areas, the Punjab government is providing loans to self-help groups to start various activities under the Punjab State Rural Livelihood Mission (PSRLM), which will give the women members of self-help groups an opportunity to contribute to the earnings of their families.
These words were expressed by Deputy Commissioner Rupnagar Himanshu Jain while distributing loan approval letters in the loan fair organized at the District Administrative Complex Rupnagar.
Deputy commissioner informed that loans worth about 6 crores have been approved for 1672 self-help groups of Rupnagar district for with an aim at strengthening the women living in rural area.
Himanshu Jain informed that PSRLM is a joint mission being run by the GoI and state government under which women of poor families in villages are linked in self-help groups. However, this loan approvals will further give the boost to these self-help groups
On this occasion, ADC (D) IAS Chandrajyoti Singh said that through self-help groups, the habit of saving money has been promoted among women and the government also provides financial assistance from time to time so that women can run small self-employment businesses. With which they can increase their family income and rise above the poverty line.
In this loan fair, DCOs and managers of various banks, Lead UCO Bank, Punjab Gramin Bank Mianpur, Punjab Sindh Bank Khairabad, Punjab Gramin Bank, HDFC Bank Morinda and Sri Anandpur Sahib, Punjab Gramin Bank Bunga Sahib, Punjab National Bank Daburji, Punjab Gramin Bank Malikpur, Punjab Gramin Bank Kheda Kalmot participated in the loan fair.
