Fatehgarh Sahib MP Brings In Private Member Bill On The Legal Right To Msp

Dr Amar Singh MP Shri Fatehgarh Sahib while speaking in Parliament requested the Union Government to bring in a law for giving legal rights to MSP. He said he had submitted a private member bill written by him for the same purpose and it may be voted on.

Dr Amar Singh said that despite MSP being first introduced more than 50 years back according to the Swaminathan Committee report just 6% of farmers were getting MSP for their crops. He said that except wheat and paddy and 3 other crops announced MSP remained just an announcement for farmers.
Lastly, He requested that MSP be inflation-linked as recent increases in MSP for even main crops like paddy and wheat was below the inflation level of 4.48%.
