To mark the celebration of International Day for Preservation of Ozone Layer, Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh organised various competitions. The Eco Club of the college, in collaboration with Department of Environment, Chandigarh Administration, organised an Online Essay Writing Competition. The theme for the competition was based on this year’s Ozone Day theme i.e. ‘Montreal Protocol- Keeping us, our food and vaccines cool’. In another event, the Department of Environment Science of the college organised a National Level Competition on ‘Wallpaper Designing and Inventing a Slogan’. The competition was sponsored by Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee. Both the competitions witnessed enthusiastic response wherein the participants channelised their creativity and ingenious ideas to give the message of the need to protect the ozone layer.

Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava expressed appreciation for the efforts of Eco Club and Environment Science Department to raise awareness about the problem of depletion of the ozone layer. She further added that human activity has damaged the Earth’s protective layer and it is our responsibility to heal it by phasing out ozone depleting substances.
