The Eco Club of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, in collaboration with the college’s Department of Botany and Add-on course in Floriculture and Landscaping, organised an activity titled ‘Maintain your pots’. The event aimed to create awareness among the students regarding upkeep of their plants including keeping pots hydrated, providing appropriate soil and fertilizers, maintaining adequate humidity and selection of correct pot size. Keeping in mind the Covid restrictions, the students performed this activity at their respective places. The students shared pictures of their pots before doing cultural practices like weeding and after maintaining their pots. The activity proved to be an enriching experience for the students as they also got insights into several interesting plant species that grow in their surroundings.
Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava lauded this endeavour to keep the students connected to nature and help them develop a sense of responsibility to protect it. She added that such initiatives are imperative for a green and sustainable future.
