The Placement Cell, Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, organised an offline Employment Enhancement Programme on the topic ‘Grow with Google’. Mr. Paramjit Singh, Director, Regional Centre for Entrepreneurship Development, Chandigarh, Mr. Rajiv Dhar, Executive Director- Operations, NASSCOM Foundation and Mr. Mudassir Zamin, Programme Manager for CSR, NASSCOM Foundation were the noteworthy guests for the event. Mr. Paramjit Singh began the session by sharing his experience as an entrepreneur and encouraged the students to consider entrepreneurship as a career option. The keynote speaker Mr. Rajiv Dhar enlightened the students about the growing job opportunities in India’s private sector. He also familiarised the students with various scholarship courses offered by them in the field of business analytics, graphic designing, project management, soft skill development etc., which will provide a platform for the candidates to uplift their skills, boost their confidence and the chance of earning while learning. The focal point of his speech was Business Analytics course which he explained in detail by quoting relevant examples. He further highlighted the significance of financially independent females in our society. The session witnessed enthusiastic participation of over 103 students.
Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava lauded this endeavour of the Placement Cell to equip students with the knowledge of the skills that enhance their employability quotient. She informed that besides being proactively involved in getting students placed in big companies like Infosys, TCS, Concentrix, Convergys, Tommy Hilfiger, Wipro and Tech Mahindra, the college’s Placement Cell also organises such programmes to bridge the industry-academia gap.
