The AIDS Awareness Committee of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, in collaboration with the college’s Red Ribbon Club, organised a National Online Quiz Competition on the awareness generation campaigns of TB, AIDS and Blood Donation. The objective was to sensitise the students about the dreaded diseases AIDS and TB, and to make them aware on these very important health issues. More than 100 participants from across the country participated in the Quiz. The questions were especially tailored to assess the participants’ knowledge of the importance of safe behavioural practices and provide information regarding resources available for them on STDs. The first three position winners were awarded cash prizes.
Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava expressed appreciation for this initiative of the AIDS Awareness Committee and Red Ribbon Club to generate awareness about diseases like AIDS and TB, and to stress on the importance of blood donation. She added that such initiatives are imperative for developing sensitivity among the youth towards various social issues.
