The Department of Office Management and Secretarial Practice at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh organised a hands-on 3-day online workshop ‘Panache 2022’.

The workshop aimed to acquaint the students with the art of Resume Writing, Interview Skills, Communication Skills and other facets of personality development including personal grooming and professional etiquette.
It consisted of three sessions conducted by Dr. Jasmine Anand, Dr. Apara Sharma and Ms. Ruchika Singh from the college’s Department of English. On day 1, Dr. Jasmine Anand apprised the participants of the nitty-gritties of Resume Writing and Interview Skills. Focusing on actual errors in resume writing, Dr. Anand discussed the appropriate resume length and content.
She also familiarised the students with interview skills and helped them to work on standard interview questions, discussing the various responses to behavioral interviews, case interviews, stress interviews, online interviews. On day 2, Dr. Apara Sharma shared with the participants tips for better communication skills. She impressed upon the participants to incorporate reading habits, deliberate on important issues and engage in discussions with their classmates on regular basis for enhancing their communication skills.
The third day’s session titled “Body Language and Business Etiquette: Decoding the Basics” was conducted by Ms. Ruchika Singh. She apprised the students of the nuances of non-verbal communication, primarily the body language with respect to business etiquette. The students were motivated to focus on positive body language which helps foster team spirit at the workplace.
Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava lauded this initiative to equip students with skills that add to their employability quotient. She added that in this age of cut throat competition, it is imperative to chisel one’s skills including communication skills for acing competition.
