The Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh organised an interactive session on National Education Policy 2020. Dr. Ashok Kumar Sharma, Vice President and Senior Governing Body Member, DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi and former Director, NCERT was the resource person for this enlightening session.

The session was attended by over 120 students and faculty members. Dr. Sharma began his informative session with an insight into the different committees on education like University Education Commission, National Education Commission (1964-1966) also known as Kothari Commission and Secondary Education Commission (1952) also known as Mudaliar Commission.
Carrying his discourse further, Dr. Sharma deliberated on some important aspects of NEP 2020 like the proposed structure of education i.e. 5 + 3 + 3 + 4, pedagogy with emphasis on experiential learning, multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary aspects and teacher education. He interacted with the teachers and students and asked them to form groups and committees to deliberate and understand these aspects. The session was well received by the participants who found it highly informative and beneficial.
Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava spoke about the importance of NEP 2020 and how it would strengthen the ramparts of higher education in India. Dr. Bhargava also highlighted the importance of NEP in opening up new portals and avenues of opportunities for the youth of the country.
