The Institution Innovation Council (IIC) and Start-up Cell of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh organised an online awareness session on the topic ‘Role of NISP in cultivating Start-up Culture’. The resource person for the event was Dr. Kiran Jindal, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce at the college.

A total of 73 students and faculty members attended the session that acquainted the participants with the role of National Innovation and Startup Policy (NISP) in Cultivating Start-up Culture in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The resource person explained in detail the various features of NISP and the responsibilities of HEIs with regard to NISP were also deliberated upon. Dr. Jindal elucidated lucrative incentives provided to the students as well as staff interested to work in the area of innovation and entrepreneurship. She also discussed the initiatives of the college with regard to promotion of innovation and entrepreneurship. Finally, the documents to be submitted to Start-up Cell of the college for getting seed money, consultation and mentorship by industry experts for one’s own ventures were also shared by Dr. Jindal.
Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava expressed appreciation for the consistent efforts of MCM IIC and Start-up Cell to sow the seeds of aptitude for innovation and entrepreneurship among students. She added that promotion of culture of innovation and start-ups holds the key to ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’.
