With the objective of facilitating students in making informed career choices, the Career Counselling Cell of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh organised two different sessions titled ‘How to prepare for UGC-NET exam’ and ‘Creating Vision and Purpose for Career and Life and Ways to Achieve It’. The resource person for the session on preparation for UGC NET exam was Mr Amandeep Bansal, Expert in UGC-NET Training, IBS Institute for Competitive Exams. Mr. Bansal gave useful tips to the students related to preparation for the exam including major areas on which questions are asked, time management before and during the exam and strategies to attempt the papers. He also suggested subject wise reference books which can help the students to prepare for the exam. 130 students of postgraduate classes of multiple streams attended the session and benefitted from it. The session on ‘Creating Vision and Purpose for Career and Life and Ways to Achieve It’ was conducted by Mr. Sreenivasan. R., Chief Customer Officer, Career Launcher Group. Over 129 students from various streams attended the session. Mr. Sreenivasan motivated the students to think out of the box and work towards building a career in their area of interest. By giving examples of stalwarts from the business world, Mr. Sreenivasan urged the students to identify the purpose of life and focus on the path to success. The session culminated with a diagnostic test of the students to help them realise their potential and suitable career opportunities.
Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava lauded the efforts of the Career Counselling Cell to guide students on the crucial aspect of career choices and success in one’s career. She motivated the students to pursue their career goals with focused determination, after due consideration of one’s strengths and interests.
