MCM holds webinar on Prominent Women in Mughal Era

CHANDIGARH 17 JULY 2021 

Tarikh- the History Association of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh organised a webinar on the topic ‘Prominent Women in Mughal Era’. Dr Bharti Mohan, Associate Professor, Aditi Mahavidyalaya, University of Delhi was the resource person for this highly informative webinar. Dr Mohan shared insightful information about various influential women who shaped the minds and personalities of great rulers from Babur to Aurangzeb. Besides shedding light on the important role played by Noorjahan on the administrative decisions made during the reign of Mughal emperor Jehangir, Dr Mohan also spoke about the contributions of Gulbadan Bano Begum- daughter of Mughal emperor Babur, Jahanara and Roshanara- daughters of Mughal emperor Shah Jehan. The webinar was well received by the participants who joined in great numbers, making the webinar a success.
Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava highlighted the relevance of this novel endeavour of the History Association by stating that the magnificent role of Mughal women in politics is generally neglected by mainstream historians. She added that with women actively involved in harem and court politics, it is pertinent that people know about their contribution to Mughal empire.
