The Department of Physics at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh organised a webinar on the topic ‘Journey of Semiconductor Transistors and Moor’s Law’. The resource person of the webinar was Dr. Abhijit Chandra Roy, Department of Physics, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India. Dr. Abhijit gave a detailed explanation of the journey of semiconductors- from vacuum tubes, diode and triode to the present semiconductor systems. He also introduced the concept of molecular electronics to the audience which is expected to replace the traditional semiconductor electronics devices. A total of 56 students and staff members participated in the webinar.
Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava lauded this initiative of the Physics Department to widen the horizons of students regarding semiconductor transistors and motivate them for future research in this area. She expressed hope that the webinar will go a long way in educating the audience about the key features of semiconductor transistors.
