The Postgraduate Department of Mathematics at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh organised a one-day workshop titled ‘Excel with MS Excel’. The resource persons for this hands-on workshop were Dr Swati Sidana and Dr Sonica, Assistant Professors at the department. Besides providing a detailed introduction to Excel and it’s various versions, the resource persons shared insights into usage of Excel including applying various formulas and functions, formatting of data, inserting graphs and charts, maintaing records, sorting and filteration of data. The students were provided hands on training in data entry, duplicacy, sorting, filters, calculating sum, product, average, maximum, minimum, percentage, concatenate, text to columns, count A, Vlookup, Piveting, Trigonometric function, Pie charts, column charts and graphs. The session ended with an interactive session wherein the doubts of students were cleared.
Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava lauded the initiative to empower students with skills in the usage of MS Excel. She added that in this digital era, such workshops are imperative for capacity building.
