MCM organises Kala Utsav
CHANDIGARH, OCTOBER 28:
With the aim of inculcating artistic skills while encouraging sustainable practices among the students, the Department of Home Science at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, organized a 3-day workshop titled Kala Utsav. Organized in collaboration with Fevicryl (Pidilite Industries), the workshop was conducted by artist Ms. Santosh Verma from Fevicryl. The waste material lying in the Home Science labs and campus garden like twigs, dried leaves, flowers, broken cutlery, blunt scissors, knives, broken trays, pans, etc. were used artistically to make mixed media wall hangings. The students also learned the skill of making fridge magnets during the workshop. The participants were awarded certificates by Fevicryl.
Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava expressed appreciation for the efforts of the Home Science Department to undertake skill development initiatives for the benefit of the students. She added that such skill development programs are the need of the hour as skills are of immense significance for enhancing the employability of the students.
