Mohali Mandis Records Purchase of about 1.57 lakh MT of paddy

District Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar Mandis has recorded a purchase of 1,57, 465 MT of paddy till Friday evening. The total procurement target for this season has been set at 2,14,776 MT in the district. Divulging details, Deputy Commissioner Mrs Aashika Jain said that the procurement operations in the district are going on smoothly and the farmers are not being allowed to face any kind of problem. She said that the paddy procured by Friday evening constitutes 73 per cent of the total expected arrival.

The Deputy Commissioner further said that an amount of Rs 349.88 crore has been paid to the farmers against this procured paddy so far. She further said that so far 52,128 MT of paddy has been lifted from the mandis and the remaining paddy will also be lifted from the mandis soon. According to the Deputy Commissioner, out of the paddy procured so far, Pangrain has procured 52,552 MT, Markfed 39273 MT, PUNSUP 35576 MT, Punjab State Warehousing Corporation 14294 MT and Food Corporation of India 15109 MTs. Private traders have procured 661 MTs of paddy.
