CM should accept his failure and tender his resignation without any delay : Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema
Chandigarh, March 19 , 2021 : The Shiromani Akali Dal today said chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh had failed to control the law and order situation in the State and said the glaring example of cold blooded murder of two sisters in Moga was a result of the patronage being given to Congress goons by the State government. The party demanded the chief minister step down on moral grounds.
In a statement released here today, the Shiromani Akali Dal Spokesman Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema said this was not the first time such an incident had occurred in the State. “The State police department’s inability to take action against goons had emboldened them and was resulting in the frequent occurrence of such gruesome incidents”.
Dr Cheena said the VIP treatment being given to gangsters had resulted in a spike in robberies, kidnappings, extortion and targeted killings. He said the gangsters were running all sorts of rackets from jails and no attempt was being made to curb them. He said it was not that the SAD was leveling such allegations against the state government, but even the government of Uttar Pradesh had alleged that Punjab was patronizing prisoners by lodging Mukhtar as a State guest in Punjab jails.
Asking the chief minister to give attention to governance instead of being content in releasing self congratulatory advertisements of fake achievements, Dr Cheema said the law and order situation had become such that criminals from other States were now finding safe haven in Punjab. “The State earlier had a reputation of being strict against criminals but the encouragement and patronage to the sand and liquor mafias has emboldened criminals who have now branched out into other fields also”. He demanded the chief minister issue strict instructions to the State DGP to follow a zero tolerance policy against crime and take action against Congress leaders and workers who were engaged in criminal activities.
