Narendra Modi holds meeting with CMs of states and UTs to review COVID-19 vaccine rollout plan

Chandigarh, January 11: Prime Minister, Narendra Modi today held a meeting with Chief Ministers of all states and UTs to review COVID-19 vaccine rollout plan that will be starting from January 16, 2021. The meeting was held through video conference.

Secretary Health, Rajesh Bhushan, made a presentation on the status of COVID-19 Vaccination of country. Dr. V.K Paul, Member Health, NITI Ayog informed the house that the two vaccines COVISHELD and COVAXIN which are authorized for emergency use in India are safe and immunogenic. He also stressed that during the development of these vaccines all parameters that are followed globally are also followed here and these vaccines are safe.

In his address, Prime Minister explained the detailed schedule of COVID 19 Vaccine, two doses to be given 28 days apart and stressed on issue of COVID appropriate behavior that it must be followed as vaccine will take some time to develop immunity even after vaccination.

The Prime Minister also informed all state and UTs that in first &second phase approximately 3 crore Health Care Workers and Front Line Workers will be covered and all expenditure will be borne by Central Government Prime Minister emphasized  that essential health services should not be affected during COVID 19 Vaccination.

The Prime Minister also announced that after finishing 60 percent vaccination of first two phases (Health Care Workers and Front Line Workers), program will be reviewed with all states for future strategies.

The Prime Minister mentioned that India has vast experience of Universal Immunization Program and Election Model which are the largest in the world. Combination of these will be useful in seamless implementation of COVID 19 Vaccination.

The Prime Minister informed that India has developed digital platform COWIN on which each beneficiary and vaccines will be digitally tracked on real time basis, a certificate with QR code will be issued to beneficiaries after vaccination.

Meeting was attended along with Chief minister Haryana by Chief Secretary, Vijai Vardhan, Chief Principal Secretray to Chief Minister, D.S Dhesi,  Additional Chief Secretary and Financial Commissioner, Revenue and Disaster Management and Consolidation Department, Sanjeev Kaushal, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, V. Umashankar, Additional Chief Secretary, Medical Education and Research Department, Alok Nigam, Additional Chief Secretary, Health  and Family Welfare Department, Rajeev Arora and Managing Director, NHM, Haryana, Prabhjot Singh and other senior officers.
