National Lok Adalat to be held on 10 July

For amicable settlement of pending cases in various courts, the quarterly National Lok Adalat is going to be held on July 10 in the district informed Sh. Rajinder Singh Rai, District and Sessions Judge cum Chairman District Legal Services Authority SAS Nagar in a meeting held today with the Civil and Judicial Officials.
Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan, SSP Satinder Singh, Sh. Sandeep Singla Additional District and Sessions Judge, Baljinder Singh Chief Judicial Magistrate cum Secretary District Legal Services Authority, Ms. Pamelpreet Grewal Kehal, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Sh. Sanjeev Batra District Attorney and Sh. Manpreet Singh President Bar Association were present on the occasion.
District and Sessions Judge informed that wide array of cases are to be taken up in the upcoming National Lok Adalat for settlement through compromise between the parties including Land Acquisition Executions, Complaints in Permanent Lok Adalat (PUS), Family matters in Family Courts,Traffic Challans, FIRs registered under Electricity Act, Complaints filed by Institutions particularly by different banks under Section 138 of Negotiable Instruments Act, Recovery suits as well as matters covered by the judgements of Hon’ble Courts of Record (relating to service matters).
The lok adalat will be organized virtually as well as physically for the ease of people and the benches will be constituted at District head quarter Mohali as well as at Sub-divisions i.e. Kharar and Derabassi.
In this upcoming National Lok Adalat apart from the cases pending in the courts, pre-litigation cases will also be taken up.
He further informed that the major benefits of Lok Adalat are that the court fee paid by the litigant is refundable and the decision passed by the Lok Adalat is final and binding upon the parties.
He made an appeal that that litigants should avail maximum benefit of the time and money saving Lok Adalats.
