National Road Safety Month-2025: Traffic Police Kargil conducts traffic awareness program

District Traffic Police Kargil today conducted a traffic awareness program under the National Road Safety Month-2025 at Bus Stand Kargil.
DySP, Headquarter, Nitin Yadav, Tehsildar Kargil Tanveer Ahmad, Block Medical Officer, Kargil, Dr Jaleel Ahmad, representative of BRO, other district officers, taxi and bus operators and drivers were present on the occasion.
DySP Nitin Yadav said this year, Road Safety Awareness is being observed for the entire month to ensure that a maximum number of people gain awareness about road safety.
The DySP informed that 60 percent of the total FIRs filed by Kargil Police in the year 2024 were related to road safety and accidents.
As per last year data 20 percent of the vehicles are more than 15 years old to which he advised to abandon and always use vehicles with proper fitness.
Dr Jaleel advised the drivers to keep themselves medically fit and advised to get proper medical certificate while applying for driving license.
He also advised to keep first aid box in the vehicle and also get training on first aid. He assured to conduct training on first aid in coordination with Traffic Police and ARTO Kargil.
BRO representative assured that the blind spots will be identified and removed as soon as possible to ensure road safety.
The resource persons advised the drivers to drive safely on the road to ensure safety of their lives, their passengers and the pedestrians. The resource persons also advised the drivers to help the Administration identify the blind spots.
The presidents of different public transport operator unions shared their experience and grievances to the administration demanding to improve the road conditions.
