Prof. (Dr.) Baldev Setia

Chandigarh: 25 January, 2024

The Electoral Literacy Club (ELC) at the Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh is a platform to sensitize everyone about their key role in electing leaders for  the largest democracy of the world. We at ELC believe in giving hands on experience in order to sensitize them about their electoral rights and familiarize them with the process of registration and voting.

On this auspicious occasion of National Voters Day,  the ELC of PEC kicked off the Day with a pledge at 11 am in front of the administration building reaffirming our commitment to the democratic process. The theme of NVD Celebrations for this year is, “Nothing like Voting, I Vote for Sure.”

Director of PEC, Prof. (Dr.) Baldev Setia administered the pledge amongst faculty, staff and students of the institutions. Registrar Col. (Veteran) R. M. Joshi was also present at this moment with all the members of faculty & staff.

After that ELC organized the intellectual battleground as the “Parliamentary Debate” Competition unfolded in the college auditorium at 2:00 pm where the participants were blessed with the esteemed presence of Nodal Officer  Dr. Chandrakant Sushil and Professor in charge Dr Ajay Kumar. The club’s secretary Kavya Rakheja adeptly facilitated the seamless execution of the event and echoed the spirit of democracy. Later on one video was also displayed in front of a huge gathering related to the use of EVM.

PEC is Celebrating democracy at its best.
