Punjab should instead reclaim its land, Chandigarh has no right to declare PB land as its forest area, Vineet Joshi
By notifying Sukhna ESZ, the Punjab govt will validate the illegal act of land grabbing of Chandigarh as a legal

”Chandigarh has illegally occupied the land of Punjab. If Punjab now allows Sukhna ESZ up to proposed 3 kms or even 100 mts, it would mean validating the illegal action of UT. I strongly urge the high power committee of Punjab Cabinet not to do so, ” said Vineet Joshi Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Chairman of Nayagaon Ghar Bachao Manch.
Joshi was putting across his point before the high-powered Committee of Punjab Cabinet Ministers at a public hearing held today over the issue of Punjab areas around Sukhna Wildlife Sanctuary being declared eco-sensitive zone, which may render residents of Kansal, Nada, Nayagaon, and Karoran homeless.
The Punjab government should reclaim its land of 2296.68 acres in the Kansal area instead of marking Eco Sensitive zone around Sukhna Wildlife Sanctuary upto 3 kms and validating the illegal move of Chandigarh as legal.
Joshi said that people from these areas are paying for forest or revenue department officers’ mistakes that happened around 1998. He strongly objected that UT Chandigarh had no right to declare Punjab’s land as a forest or wildlife sanctuary.
He added that the UT Chandigarh has illegally and forcibly grabbed 2296.68 acres of land in Kansal, Punjab. Despite Punjab owning this piece of land, it has no control.
