Not of ordinary houses, Captain worried about Congressmen sons and nephews: Harpal Cheema

On formation of AAP government, strict action will be taken against those who violated merit
Why didn’t Captain abandoned nepotism and gave Ghar Ghar Rozgar as promised
Chandigarh, June 25 2021
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) senior leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Punjab Assembly, Harpal Singh Cheema said that educated, talented and capable sons and daughters of common households, who had been struggling for employment for years; were not on the agenda of Captain Amarinder Singh. He said that like the previous Badal government, the Captain government also sees the sons and daughters of its MLAs, ministers and leaders as capable; while the power was secured with the promise of ‘Ghar Ghar Rozgar’. Addressing the media during a press conference held at the party headquarters here on Friday, Harpal Singh Cheema announced that with the formation of the Aam Aadmi Party government in 2022, the jobs distributed to the nephews and nieces of Congress MLAs, ministers and other leaders by violation the rules, regulations and merit; would be investigated and strict legal action would be taken.
Cheema said that not only this, the money looted from the public exchequer in the form of salaries will also be recovered from them along with interest. On the occasion, the party’s state general secretary Harchand Singh Barsat was also present. Cheema said that on the one hand, the medal winning Paralympic athletes who had made Punjab famous in the country and across the world, were being beaten with sticks instead of rewarded with jobs. On the other hand, the brother of MP Ravneet Singh Bittu was directly appointed as DSP, the son of MLA Fateh Jung Singh Bajwa was appointed directly as inspector and the son of MLA Rakesh Pandey was given the post of Naib Tehsildar.
Taking a dig at Captain Amarinder Singh, Cheema asked if Captain Amarinder did not see the talented young men sitting on the tower for employment in Patiala from his Moti Mahal. “Doesn’t Captain Amarinder see the highly deserving and capable sons and daughters of ordinary households who have been sitting on permanent dharna in Sangrur for months and are victims of government persecution every third day,” questioned Cheema. He said that Paralympic athletes seeking jobs in front of the Chief Minister’s residence and AAP MLA Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer who had joined their struggle, were beaten and detained by the police; which was reprehensible.
The AAP leader alleged that like the Badals, Captain Amarinder also encouraged mafia rule and nepotism, of which there were countless examples. Cheema said that not only this, the offices of Advocate General (AG) including the chairpersons and directorates of Punjab were also occupied by the sons and daughters of the Congressmen. “This is the reason why Punjab is losing all important cases due to these nephews without merit,” he added. Cheema demanded that the government should abandon nepotism and provide ‘Ghar-Ghar Rozgar’ as per its election promise. He assured that after the formation of the AAP government in 2022, a large number of jobs would be provided with merit and transparency.
