Pawan Sharma, a senior leader of the BJP in Jammu and Kashmir, has urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to instruct his ministers to visit the snow-bound areas of Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar districts, where residents are experiencing extreme difficulties due to the unavailability of essential services and disruptions in connectivity and electricity caused by snowfall and adverse weather conditions.
Sharma observed that the Government’s winter preparedness exists only on paper, while the reality on the ground indicates the difficulties endured by the people. Many passengers and visitors are stranded in various locations, adding to their hardship.
The government has demonstrated a total indifference to the challenges faced by the residents of Ramban, Doda, and Kishtwar, who are stranded without adequate connectivity and lack access to basic essentials like water and electricity, he added.
He pointed out that since the Chief Minister has committed to being present in Kashmir during harsh winters, it is imperative to prevent areas of the Jammu region from being marginalized. As Jammu constitutes an integral part of the Union Territory, the Chief Minister’s responsibility extends to ensuring the welfare of the entire UT.
Sharma makes a fervent appeal to the Chief Minister to take immediate action to alleviate the difficulties of the people in snow-affected regions and ensure equitable attention to both Jammu and Kashmir divisions.
