Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi will address the Gram Sabhas across the country on October 2, 2021, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on the successful implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission, being run to ensure the availability of clean water in every household in rural areas.

Haryana Chief Secretary, Sh. Vijai Vardhan, today held a meeting with the Deputy Commissioners in this regard through video conferencing and gave necessary directions to them to ensure that the programme is a success.
Directing the Deputy Commissioners, Sh. Vijai Vardhan said that as per the vision of Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi, every Gram Panchayat has to ensure its participation so that Haryana can make its mark among the leading states in Jal Jeevan Mission.
Therefore, all the officers should make the programme successful by ensuring complete arrangements in the respective Gram Sabhas, said Sh. Manohar Lal.
It was informed in the meeting that on October 2, the Prime Minister will address all the Gram Sabhas and share with them the vision, objectives and upcoming strategy for Jal Jeevan Mission.
The Chief Secretary was apprised that under the Jal Jeevan Mission, a Water and Sanitation Committee has been constituted in the villages of Haryana. The participation of 50 percent of women has also been ensured in this Committee.
It was further informed that under the supervision of this Committee, a village action plan has been prepared, which has complete details about the drinking water supply plan and this scheme would be implemented in the Gram Panchayat as per this detailed plan.
It was also informed in the meeting that under the Jal Jeevan Mission, a target was set to provide Functional Household Tap Connections to all the houses in the village, out of which tap connections have been made available in all the houses and the work of strengthening the drinking water scheme is in progress.
After the implementation of the scheme under the Jal Jeevan Mission, its maintenance and operation will be done by the Village Water and Sewerage Committee.
The Chief Secretary was further apprised that to ensure the quality of drinking water under Jal Jeevan Mission, five women in each village have been trained in the Gram Panchayat and now science students in the villages are also being trained to check the quality of water, so as to ensure the availability of pure drinking water.
To ensure the quality of drinking water, laboratories have been set up by the Public Health Engineering Department at all district headquarters, in which any person can get the quality of the water tested by paying a nominal fee for the test.
Under Jal Jeevan Mission, pump operators, electricians, pipe craftsmen etc. are being trained in every Gram Panchayat, so that all repair and maintenance work related to the drinking water supply scheme can be done by the committee in the village itself.
During the meeting, it was shared that the Government of India has created a Dash Board https://ejalshakti.gov.in/ijmreport/ijmindia.aspx on which any citizen can get information related to drinking water from his village. Information about the water and sanitation committee, drinking water status, consumers, drinking water quality, drinking water source etc. is available on this dashboard. Through this dashboard, any consumer can register his complaint related to drinking water.
It was informed in the meeting that at present, Public Health Engineering Department and Water and Sanitation Support Organizations are working under Jal Jeevan Mission, so that a clean drinking water supply can be ensured in every household in fixed quantity every day.
Additional Chief Secretary, Public Health Engineering Department, Sh. Devender Singh, Director General, Development and Panchayats Department, Sh. R. C Bidhan, Director, Secondary Education and Special Secretary, School Education Department, Sh.J.Ganesan and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
