Orchha’s village Ladpurakhas nominated for UN WTO Award

The Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has congratulated all the officers and employees of the Tourism Department for Ladpurakhas village of Orchha getting nominated for the “Best Tourism Village” category in the United Nations World Tourism Organisation Award. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that it is a matter of pride for Madhya Pradesh. Our state is rich in unique architectural wealth along with unspoiled natural beauty. Now tourism has emerged as a focal point of not only entertainment but also employment, local culture, food, art and architecture.
Principal Secretary Tourism and Culture Shri Sheo Shekhar Shukla informed that the Union Ministry of Tourism has nominated Ladpurakhas village of Orchha for the Best Tourism Village. Along with this, two other villages have been nominated from Meghalaya and Telangana. Shri Shukla said that the “Rural Tourism” project has been started with the objective of giving shape to the concept of rural tourism by adding new dimensions in the field of tourism. In the next five years, 100 villages will be developed from the point of view of rural tourism. Among these, suitable sites will be selected and developed in Orchha, Khajuraho, Mandu, Sanchi, Pachmarhi, Tamia, Panna National Park, Bandhavgarh National Park, Sanjay Dubri National Park, Pench and Kanha National Park, Mitawali, Padawali etc.
