In order to meet with the rising demand of oxygen for the corona positive patients, the Barnala administration has come up with an oxygen manufacturing plant having capacity of producing 600 kg per day. 600 ਕਿ
Giving this information here today, the Deputy Commissioner Mr Taj Partap Singh Phoolka stated that the IOL Chemicals and Pharma Limited has come up with this plant at the Sohal Patti covid care centre. Built at a cost of Rs 52 lakhs, the oxygen plant has been commissioned.
IOL has also laid network of pipes providing oxygen supply directly to 50 bedded hospital for covid positive patients. This part of the facility has been commissioned and the oxygen supply is being provided to patients at Sohal Patti Center.
Deputy Commissioner added that the IOL has plant run plant on trial basis at its full capacity and is being handed over to the Civil Hospital Barnala. The health department employees are being given 10 days technical knowledge to run this plant. Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) has also collaborated with health department in getting clearance and certain raw material for the plant. The hospital shall run this plant, while IOL will continue providing technical support for the same.
Civil Surgeon Dr Jasbir Singh Aulakh said that with the setting up of this plant, district Barnala will be able to meet with its need for oxygen for covid patients without any difficulty. Till now, the administration has been fetching oxygen supply from Mandi Gobindgarh.
