Paddy production in Fazilka district has increased compared to last year

213918 metric tons of paddy were purchased in the district

This year, Fazilka district has witnessed a bumper crop of (Parmal) paddy. The hardworking farmers of the district have contributed significantly to the country’s food grains. The figure of paddy production in the district has increased compared to last year. Last year, a total of 170128 metric tons of paddy was purchased in the district, while this time 213918 metric tons of paddy have arrived in the district’s markets. This information has been given by District and Food Supply Controller Vandana Kamboj.

She said that this year, PUNGain has purchased 73 thousand metric tons, MARKFED 51,577 metric tons, PUNSUP 47872 metric tons, Punjab State Warehouse Corporation 32397 metric tons and private traders 9072 metric tons of paddy. PUNGrain has been the leading agency in terms of procurement.

She further said that the farmers have been paid Rs 475 crore 18 lakh by government agencies for this. She said that an increase was also recorded in the area under paddy in the district this time.

On the other hand, the district’s Chief Agriculture Officer Dr. Sandeep Rinwa has congratulated the farmers for the bumper production. He said that the farmers of Fazilka work very hard and farm with the techniques given by the Agriculture Department and Agriculture University. This is the reason why the farmers have got a good yield. It is worth mentioning here that these are only the figures for Parmal rice and the production of Basmati rice is different from it.
