PM Matsya Sampada Yojana- DC hands over keys of insulated vehicle to woman beneficiary

Ludhiana, February 16

Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney on Friday handed over the keys of the insulated vehicle to Jaspreet Kaur, a resident of Karodia village, Payal Sub-division under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana.
Accompanied by ADC Anmol Singh Dhaliwal, Assistant Director Fisheries Dalbir Singh, Fishery Officer Mamta Sharma, Sawhney said that Jaspreet Kaur was the first woman beneficiary of Ludhiana to whom a subsidy of Rs 12 lakh had been given under the PMMSY. She said that the cost of insulated vehicle was Rs 20 lakh and would be used for transpoting fish.
Assistant Director Fisheries Dalbir Singh said that fish was a highly perishable product and ice is used for short distance transport. He said that this vehicle would facilitate the easy and smooth transportation of fish from pond to market places with proper quality under controlled temperature. This will ensure better price to the fishers as well as quality fish to the consumers.
The departmental officer also said the main purpose of this scheme was to develop the fisheries sector in the district, ensure maximum employment opportunities for the youth and increase the income of farmers. As per the guidelines issued under PMMSY, 40% subsidy of unit cost will be sanctioned to general category beneficiaries and 60% of unit cost to schedule caste, schedule tribe and women.
