Governor pays tribute to martyrs on Police Memorial Day
Calls on martyrs’ families, says – people, government, police, and the administration stand with you

Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel said that in a democratic system, the police are the basis of a strong society. The efficiency and behaviour of the police make the common man feel safe. The police should be alert, sensitive, and polite towards the common people. Governor Shri Patel was addressing a programme at Lal Parade Ground, Bhopal on Police Memorial Day. He paid floral tributes at the martyrs memorial and had a cordial meeting with the families of the martyred police personnel. Chief Secretary Shri Anurag Jain was also present in the programme.

Governor Shri Patel said that the police are an integral part of the society. Development is impossible without the active participation of the police. An environment of peace, harmony, and brotherhood in society is very important for growth. He said that it is a matter of pride for all of us that the Madhya Pradesh Police is counted among the best forces in the country. The state police has given meaning to the motto of ‘Deshbhakti-Janseva’. It has set records with high standards of devotion to duty.

Police should keep themselves constantly updated in the changing circumstances

Governor Shri Patel said that it is the big responsibility of the police to maintain the integrity, social and cultural harmony of the country and the state while ensuring law and order. Maintaining coordination with the public is also an important responsibility of the police. He said that the police should constantly update themselves according to the changing circumstances. Governor Shri Patel praised the state police for activities like planting 1.25 lakh saplings in a single day, establishment of police bands and women’s police stations in all the districts, target of building 25 thousand houses for police families and establishing of 950 women energy desks.

Governor Shri Patel was handed over the list of martyred soldiers for felicitation by the pallbearer party in the programme. All the proceedings of the parade salute were done by the party. On this occasion, Director General of Police Shri Sudhir Kumar Saxena addressed the gathering. He paid tribute to the bravery of martyrs who fought in the difficult areas of Ladakh on 21 October 1959. He also paid tribute to the martyred soldiers of Madhya Pradesh Police. Senior administrative, police officers and dignitaries paid floral tributes at the martyrs’ memorial. Additional Chief Secretary Shri S.N. Mishra, ADG Shri Shapu, senior police officers, retired police and administration officers and families of martyred policemen were present in the programme.
