Post panic buying triggered by the nationwide strike of truckers and operators, normalcy returned in uninterrupted sale and supply of Petrol and Diesel in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar district, today.
Divulging the details, the Deputy Commissioner Mrs Aashika Jain said that the dispatches and supplies of the petroleum got normal today as the inward supplies from Bathinda, Sangrur and Jalandhar to the district were registered over 70 per cent from the previous midnight. Similarly, outside delivery of petrol and diesel from the local oil depot of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (Lalru) also got momentum as the number of tankers/lorries dispatched outside was 71 till 5:00 pm on Wednesday.
Expressing gratitude to the trucker operators and petrol pump owners for extending support to the District Administration in its endeavour to resume the operations, she said that the entire administrative machinery including civil and police has also gone the extra mile to put things on track.
Pawan Kumar, Sales Officer, BPCL who supervises Lalru said that the strenuous efforts put forth by the District Administration proved fruitful to resume the supplies from the Oil Depot. The oil depot is working overnight to meet the gap in demand and supply.
