‘Over 65% age appropriate people vaccinated; Rs 1.68 cr relief disbursed among 16868 construction workers’
RAMBAN, MAY 20, 2021: Over 65 percent targeted people have been vaccinated and more than 30 thousand RT-PCR and RAT tests were conducted at Jawahar Tunnel, Nashri Tunnel and Railway Station Banihal after the surge of Covid positive cases, said Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam while addressing media persons, here today.
The DC said that aggressive Covid testing is being carried out in rural areas of the district to break the transmission chain. Nearly 1000 to 1200 samples of both RTPCR and RAT are being collected by the health workers in the district on a daily basis, he added.
The DC informed that vaccination drive has been intensified across the district by conducting House to House and camp mode vaccination. He said remaining about 19000 age appropriate people will be vaccinated in due course of time.
The DC informed that district has a stock of 702 D and B type medical oxygen cylinders at different medical blocks of the district, of which over 80% have been filled to meet the requirement which increased due to high consumption. The Divisional Administration, he said has set up a facility at adjoining Udhampur district to refill empty cylinders.
The DC said that civil and allied works of the medical oxygen gas plant in District Hospital have been completed and the oxygen generation machine will be installed soon.
“The district administration has started the process to implement Government directions for creating basic minimum facility for isolation of covid patients at Panchayat level as many households do not have much space within the houses” he said. The DPO and CMO have been asked to immediately identify the suitable accommodation/ location for setting up the 5-bedded Covid Care facility (isolation ward) with the provision of Medical Oxygen Cylinders in all 143 panchayats of the district. It will add more than 740 beds in total capacity of the district, he informed.
The DC further said that the enforcement of Corona curfew is being closely monitored by the senior officers of Civil and police administration.”I also conducted random visits to various blocks of district to review measures taken by the local administration to contain spread of Covid infection in their respective jurisdictions” he informed.
The District Administration has effectively implemented the directions of Lt. Governor, including providing Covid relief to register construction workers and artisans, the DC said.
The Labour department has transferred over Rs 1.68 crore as first installment of Rs 1000 per worker through DBT mode in the bank accounts of 16868 construction workers, registered with Jammu and Kashmir Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (JKBOCWWB), he informed.
