Providing help to persons in need in view of increased COVID cases: Justice Rajan Gupta
Chandigarh, April 15: A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Justice Rajan Gupta, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court and Executive Chairman, Haryana State Legal Services with all the Chief Judicial Magistrates-cum-Secretaries, District Legal Services Authorities in the State of Haryana in view of increasing COVID cases throughout Haryana. The meeting was held through video conferencing.
During the video conference Executive Chairperson, HALSA directed all the DLSAs to step up and undertake COVID awareness and relief programmes, since the COVID cases are increasing manifolds. Executive Chairperson emphasized on need to reach needy persons who are entitled to financial relief packages announced by State Government. That apart, Executive Chairperson also pressed upon need to make people aware about proper use of masks, need to follow social distancing, cleaning of hands time and again as well as importance of vaccination.
The Executive Chairman asked DLSA Secretaries to hold vaccination campaigns in assistance with health department in order to facilitate public to go for vaccination on voluntarily basis. Public be also informed about the benefits of vaccination and about the side effects of vaccination and promote vaccination purely on voluntarily basis.
DLSAs Secretaries were also asked to extend assistance to needy persons and ensure that due assistance and help reaches needy persons while corroborating with concerned departments for ensuring that benefits of old age pension, financial assistance to persons with special need, Aadhar card, voter card and other beneficial schemes launched by Central and State Government are delivered to them.
That apart, Executive Chairman, HALSA also directed DLSAs to involve Additional Deputy Commissioner of each District being the Nodal Officer in all the activities of DLSAs so as to ensure support from District Administration and especially for ensuring relief to ordinary persons during pandemic. That apart, Executive Chairperson also directed the Secretaries, to hold meetings with the local Administrative Officers frequently and atleast one per month. DLSAs were asked to enhance usages of Legal Literacy Clubs already set up in private and Government Schools of Haryana. His Lordship emphasized on conducting frequent programmes by DLSAS in Students legal literacy clubs set up in the schools and college.
All the CJMs-cum-Secretaries, DLSAs have been directed to take up all the matters related to DLSAs with District and Sessions Judges-cum-Chairpersons, DLSAs as well as District Administration so that maximum benefit of HALSA, NALSA and other government schemes is made available to general public. DLSA Secretaries were asked to apprise Ld. District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairpersons, DLSAs about the difficulties being faced by common man so that matter is raised with district administration and proper arrangement are made by district administration for ensuring that actual benefit is delivered to common man.
Ld. Member Secretary and Joint Member Secretary, also remained present during the video conference.
