Consensus reached in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Yadav
In a meeting held in Mantralaya today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, public representatives and senior officials agreed unanimously on removing BRTS in Bhopal following a detailed discussion on various problems arising in traffic due to BRTS.
In the meeting, the plan for phased removal of BRTS track in the capital and the work of leveling the road and developing the route for easy traffic was also discussed. Also, the Public Works Department’s proposal of Lake Corridor was also presented and discussed.
Among those present in the meeting were Minister Shri Vishwas Sarang, Smt. Krishna Gaur, MLA Shri Rameshwar Sharma, Shri Bhagwan Das Sabnani, Bhopal Mayor Smt. Malti Rai, Chief Secretary Smt. Veera Rana, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Shri Raghavendra Singh, Secretary Shri Vivek Porwal, Principal Secretary Urban Development and Housing Shri Neeraj Mandloi, Principal Secretary Public Works Shri Sukhveer Singh, Commissioner Dr. Pawan Sharma and Collector Bhopal Shri Ashish Singh and other officers.
Main points of the meeting
• Public representatives said that the removal of BRTS track will reduce the traffic on busy routes and agreed that the local transport system could be made more convenient.
• It was agreed to build a central road divider in place of BRTS.
• In the presentation on the current BRTS system, facts related to dedicated corridors in different parts of BRTS and movement of vehicles in other parts of the route were also presented. Information about the nature of BRTS and the arrangements made at various places in the city was also shared.
