RECOVERY OF HUGE CONSIGNMENT OF OPIUM ALONGWITH WEAPONS AND CASH

In the relentless drive to break the nexus of drugs smugglers and dealers of different states who are pushing drugs into Punjab with the nefarious design to make easy money and devastate the youth of the state, Punjab Police has busted an interstate smuggling racket with recovery of huge quantity of opium smuggled from Jharkhand.

Acting on a secret information,a special team of Counter Intelligence Amritsar was promptly apprehended four persons namely:
1) Jobandeep Singh s/o Dharam Singh resident of Wadala PS Khilchian District Amritsar
2) Sukhjinder Singh s/o Prakash Singh r/o Chainpur Dist. Amritsar
3) Ranjit Singh s/o Virsa Singh r/o Bhittewad, Police Dist. Amritsar Rural
4) Jaspal Singh s/o Virsa Singh r/o Bhittewad Police Dist. Amritsar Rural
from the area of Ram Tirath Road, Amritsar, who were travelling in Hyundai verna No. PB02-EB-3171 and Honda Amaze no. HR26-DQ-2821. The search of the vehicles resulted in the recovery of 17 Kg Opium alongwith one pistol 32 bore and Rs. 1,10,000/- Indian currency. Case FIR dated 28.10.2021 u/s 18, 25, 29 NDPS Act PS SSOC Amritsar was registered.
During the preliminary investigations, it has come to light that Jobandeep Singhiswas earlier involved in a case pertaining to recovery of 07 KGs of Opium registered at PS Beas in 2021. It has been revealed that the accused came in touch with Jharkhand based suppliers through their contact, presently lodged in Kapurthala jail. It has been also learnt that the Jharkhand based party is a leading supplier of opium in different parts of Punjab.
Further investigations are being carried out to unearth the whole network of drug suppliers, dealers and their buyers. Efforts are being made to identify the complete procurement and supply chain across different states. The accused will be produced before the hon’ble court for police remand in due course.
