Eight National winners under training to participate in World Skill competitions
Chandigarh, May 5:
Punjab Skill Development Mission (PSDM), on Thursday, organised a felicitation ceremony for 142 winners of State Skill Competitions here at Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration (MGSIPA).
Presiding over the function, Principal Secretary Employment Generation, Skill Development & Training, Mr. Dilip Kumar felicitated the winners and encouraged them to work harder to accomplish higher goals in life. Ms. Deepti Uppal, Director General Employment Generation, Skill Development &Training-cum-Mission Director Punjab Skill Development Mission said that Punjab Skill Development Mission (PSDM) conducted Skill Competitions in 49 trades in August 2021 at various state-of-the-art institutions having expertise and infrastructure in those trades.
These 142 candidates were selected as winners of State level competitions out of which top 2 in each skill participated in Regional competitions held in November 2021 and 12 candidates brought laurels to the state by winning 12 medals in 11 skills – Concrete Construction, MCAD, Information Network Cabling, Carpentry, Graphic Design Technology, Painting & Decorating, Plastic Die Engineering, Robot System Integration, Industry 4.0 and Wall & Floor Tiling.
These 12 Winners of Regional Skill competitions participated in National level skill competitions held at New Delhi in January, 2022 and 8 candidates won medals in 6 skills – Concrete Construction, Carpentry, Information Network Cabling, Industry 4.0, Plastic Die Engineering, and Wall & Floor Tiling.
Mr. Rajesh Tripathi, Additional Mission Director added that the eight winners of National level skill competitions are under training to compete in World Skill competitions scheduled to be held in Shanghai (China) in October, 2022. Mr. Rajat Bhatnagar, State Engagement Officer, NSDC stated that NSDC is working in full coordination with PSDM for organizing such events and all other projects of skill development.
