Punjab State Road Safety Council Hosts Training on Road Safety Measures for SAS Nagar, Rupnagar and Fatehgarh Sahib Districts at Mohali

SAS Nagar, October 26:
To keep updated the District Road Safety Committees and Administration, Punjab State Road Safety Council (PSRSC) held a one day training session at Dr B R Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences on Thursday at Mohali.
The road safety committees from the nearby districts; SAS Nagar, Rupnagar and Fatehgarh Sahib were the trainees who were briefed on Road Safety Measures by the experts.
Briefing the details, Regional Transport Authority, SAS Nagar-cum-Nodal Officer of the training session, Pardeep Singh Dhillon said that the thrust was laid on the changing scenario of mobility and safety measures accordingly.The discussions were based on
Engineering Methods of Road Safety- Road Safety engineering   Aspects for urban and rural highways- Geometric designs, signage, marking, street furniture, intersections and roundabouts, crash barriers, traffic claiming measures and Road Safety Audits.
Dr Anupam Mahajan from Dr B R Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences delivered an address on topic-Road Safety Emergency care. He threw light upon the importance of the Role of emergency care in road safety, Pre-hospital care and definitive care centres. First responders, telemedicine, infrastructure & resources, use of spatial databases.
Dr. K.K. Gupta, Joint Director (Engineering), Lead Agency, PSRSC apprised of the guidelines of Supreme Court on Road Safety.
Harman Sidhu from NGO Arrive Safe and Member, PSRSC and Harpreet Singh, NGO Avoid Accident, SAS Nagar gave details on  Traffic Management, Safe Vehicles, Traffic Rules, Driving Licenses, Enforcement, etc. Road Safety-An Overview while Ms Kirat Dhanoa, SDE, PWD Road spoke on Safety and Traffic Management Measures to reduce fatalities by 50 percent.
The training session was concluded with distribution of certificates to the 73 participants.
