PUNJAB TAKES LEAD IN REGISTRATION OF MIGRANT WORKERS TO FACILITATE SAFE RETURN TO THEIR HOME STATES

  • More than 6.44 Lakh migrants registered, who are interested in returning

Chandigarh, May 3: The State of Punjab has taken the lead in registering the migrants residing within the State. A special online portal had been designed for this purpose. Through the hard work of the officials engaged in managing the portal and reaching out to the migrants, the State has successfully registered more than 6.44 Lakh migrants who are interested in returning to their home States.

Disclosing this here today official spokesperson of the Punjab Government said that the detailed data is regularly being shared with the Destination States. The Destination States are shortly expected to finalise arrangements for the safe return of these migrants keeping in view the health protocols mandated by the Government of India.

Spokesperson further said that the table indicates a summary of the state wise breakup of migrants, who have registered on the portal. The column with the heading “Count” indicates the number of persons who have registered on the portal and the column with  the heading “Member Count” indicates the additional people who will be accompanying the person who has registered on the portal.
