Hoshiarpur, 23rd October 2020
“While the women fraternity of entire Nation were feeling unsafe and unsecured after unfortunate Hathras incident, recent gangrape of a 5 year old female infantile in village Jalalpur near Tanda town in Hoshiarpur has spread a sense of resentment and insecurity among the people from all walks of life”, said AAP MLA and Dy. LoP Saravjit Kaur Manuke expressing her concern over deteriorating state of law and order in Punjab. AAP legislator said that there was a time when people of Punjab were known for protecting the life and dignity of the daughters of the soil, but the situation in state has turned drastically over a period time to such an extent that female are being treated heinously by unscrupulous elements in the society. It is pertinent to mention here that 5058 rape cases have been registered in Punjab during 2018-2019 out of which only 30 percent cases have been put to trial whereas 70% victims are still constrained to do rounds of Police Stations for seeking justice. She said that Amarinder Singh government is busy in providing security to himself and his colleagues but the law and order situation in Punjab is at worst and every section of society has lost hope and trust in the incumbent government.
