RAMBAN, JUNE 02, 2021: Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam, today inspected Bailey Suspension Bridge, Maitra and held on the spot discussion with District Officers and Engineers on its condition and maintenance.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Ramban, PD Nitya; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Harbans Lal; Executive Engineer PWD and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
After the discussion, as per the directions issued by the Advisor to LG, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar during his recent visit to Ramban, it was decided that repairing and renovation of Bailey bridge is necessary keeping in view its importance in connecting two sides of Ramban town.
The DC directed the PWD Department to explore the possibilities for its repair and renovation to make it dependable and submit a proposal within prescribed time.
Keeping in view that the BRO had declared Bailey Suspension Bridge over river Chenab at Maitra, Ramban unsafe, only light motor vehicles shall be allowed on the bridge as a safety measure.
