India being a developing nation is currently facing many challenges and the reservation system being one of them. The biggest question that lies in front of us is whether implementing this reservation system has really helped the downtrodden? The current scenario clearly depicts that the ‘lower’ castes are still discriminated in their daily lives.
It should be purely made on the basis of the economical conditions of the applicant and nothing else. The kind of reservation policy that our government currently follows does nothing but divide the society into different sections. What we need is to devise an intelligent and transparent method, which acknowledges the conditions a student is subjected to, and not the community he/she was born into, and then give the appropriate relaxation in the cut-offs required. This way, it would not be an injustice to the poor meritorious students who have the capability to perform but falling prey to the reservation system, are unable to get the opportunities they deserve.
Any kind of reservation will not help make the nation become economically sound. Because when a person gets a job and receives admission after working hard, he will take it more seriously.
