Chandigarh, September 10 :- The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today asked chief minister Bhagwant Mann to tell which allowance his government had given to the youth of Punjab as well as number of government jobs provided to them before trying to deceive youth of Himachal Pradesh with the promise of unemployment allowance of Rs 3,000 per month and six lakh government jobs.
In a statement here, SAD senior leader Bikram Singh Majithia said “it seems the lies of Delhi which were brought to Punjab, are now being taken to Himachal. The AAP government has not paid Rs 1 in unemployment allowance in Delhi since the last eight years. It has not done so in Punjab also but now is making a promise to give Rs 3,000 per month unemployment allowance in Himachal to be-fool the people into voting for the party”
Mr Majithia also asked chief minister Bhagwant Mann to tell how many government jobs he had given to the youth of Punjab in the last six months. “As per latest reports, the AAP government has not even filled the vacancies in government jobs till now. In fact most government jobs which are falling vacant are being scrapped and those few which are being filled have long probationary periods of three years in which youth are given a fraction of the pay due to them. Such jobs can be counted on the fingers”. He said the AAP government in Delhi had a similar track record having given a measly 3,246 government jobs in the last seven years. “It is ironical that the same party which has failed to provide jobs to youth in Punjab and Delhi is promising youth six lakh government jobs in Himachal”.
Mr Majithia said forget doing anything AAP had already reneged on the “guarantees” it had made in Punjab. He said 35,000 contractual workers, who had been promised that their services would be regularized immediately after the AAP government came into being, were still waiting for implementation of this promise. “Similarly the women of Punjab were promised an allowance of Rs 1,000 per month which has not been paid since the last six months”.
Asking the people of Himachal not to believe the “guarantees” of AAP, Mr Majithia said “the only guarantee AAP can give is that if elected to power it will rule the State by remote control from Delhi and appoint and appoint a chief minister who will serve as a rubber stamp. All vital interests of Himachal, including its river waters will be endangered on the same pattern as Punjab with the AAP government likely to arm-twist Himachalis to serve the interests of the party in Haryana and Delhi. The State exchequer of Himachal is also likely to be looted to serve the interests of AAP in other States of the country”, Mr Majithia added
Asserting that all assurances of good governance and welfare of farmers and the weaker sections in Punjab had also proven to be false, Mr Majithia said “the law and order situation has completely collapsed. Traders and industrialists are fearful of extortions while the ordinary person is witnessing an increase in snatchings and robberies”. He said the farm sector was in a crisis after farmers were not given minimum support price (msp) on Moong despite an assurance by the chief minister. “Forget doubling farm income, it seems farm suicides and farm indebtedness has been doubled”. He said farmers had also not received compensation for crop damage. “Even dairy farmers have not been given compensation for loss of milch animals due to Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD)”.
