“Saraswati river symbolizes the glorious heritage of our country. The importance of river Saraswati can be traced since the Rigveda times. The great Indian civilizations had started from the Saraswati river while the researchers are still doing archeological excavations to find its remains”, (BJP) State President Om Prakash Dhankar said on Friday at the International Virtual Conference.
The International Virtual Conference, organized by the Department of History of the Panjab University and Saraswati Heritage Development Board Haryana, was based on the theme: “Walking With River Sarasvati – Recent Historical, Cultural and Scientific Findings”.
The BJP state president said that Saraswati has always been a part of our life, since ancient times of Rigveda to the prayer meetings in schools at the present time. “The people of India have never considered Saraswati as a river but always regarded her as ‘Goddess of knowledge’ (Gyaan ki Devi). With the passage of time and under the influence of the West, we have reduced the flow of our knowledge of Saraswati, which needs to be further intensified. We will have to work to match the other civilizations of the world which are establishing new dimensions of development”, he said.
He said that the Haryana government is significantly working in reviving the river Saraswati as the entire civilization of our country is associated with Saraswati. It is very important for the youth of the country and the coming generation to know about our golden past.
The Chairman of Development Board of the International Virtual Conference, Dhuman Singh Kirmich, was also present on the occasion, along with GD Bakshi, eminent singer Mahima Awasthi and other national and international eminent personalities.
