SDM Mohali led Food Safety Teams Collects Samples of Sweetmeats From Banur

—- Directs Shopkeepers to strictly adhere to FSSAI Measures

 In consonance of the directions given by the Deputy Commissioner Mrs Aashika Jain to ensure the quality of food products in wake of festive season, a food safety team led by Sub Divisional Magistrate, Mohali, Ms Chandrajyoti Singh carried out surprise checks at sweetmeat shops of Banur on Wednesday.
Divulging the details, the SDM Mohali said that the inspection was aimed at ensuring the quality and standards of the manufacturing of sweets as per the guidelines laid down under the Food Safety and Standards Act of India. A number of samples of milk products and other materials such as Chamcham, Milk Cake, Khoa, Besan Laddoo and Paneer Kutcha were collected during the inspection, she further added.
The team led by SDM Chandrajyoti Singh comprises Assistant Commissioner (Food Safety) Amit Joshi, Anil Kumar Food Safety Officer, Ravi Nandan Food Safety Officer and Pankaj Kumar Reader to SDM. The team while carrying out the surprised check at Layalpur Sweets, Chhinda Sweets and Hotel Grand Punjab of Banur also inspected the cleanliness of the workshops and display of the items in the proper and safe manner in showcases.
 SDM Mohali said that the shopkeepers have been asked to abide by all the guidelines in FSSAI to maintain the quality standards of the milk and other sweet products and do not use spurious Khoa or Paneer.
She warned the shopkeepers that in case they were found in indulging in violation of the Food Safety and Standards Act, they would be dealt with stern action besides hefty fines.
