Leh, May 6: Secretary, Social and Tribal Welfare, Padma Angmo, today inspected Bal Ashram and Nari Niketan hostel in Leh to review the arrangements at these institutions due to the increase in Covid-19 cases in Ladakh.
Ministry of Women and Child Development (WCD) has recently written to States and UTs for taking necessary actions for the care and protection of children who have become orphans due to Covid-19.
After taking a round of Bal Ashram and Nari Niketan Hostel, Secretary Padma directed the Hostel Superintendents to ensure regular sanitisation of the hostel and adherence to Covid SOPs. She also impressed upon the concerned officials to make requisite preparations for taking in children both of whose parents have tested positive for Covid-19.
District Social Welfare Officer and the staff of Bal Ashram and Nari Niketan apprised Secretary Padma of the requirement of additional human resource and equipment. Secretary Padma asked the concerned officials for a comprehensive proposal in this regard. She also visited the site for the proposed Girls Hostel and Old Age Home at Saboo Thang.
