Placement Cell of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Sector 36-A, Chandigarh organized a series of Employability Enhancement sessions to cater to the aspirations and needs of students. Two sessions were conducted by resource persons from IMS Learning Resources Pvt. Ltd on Personal Interview and Group Discussion skills. 170 students attended the first session and the second session was attended by 83 students from across all streams. Another session in the series ‘Unlocking Career Opportunities: Navigating the Job Market via Social Media’ was conducted by Ms. Kanchan Arora and Mr. Sushil Parmar from Australian Education Career Consultancy (AECC). In an interactive session, they equipped the students with the knowledge necessary to leverage social media effectively in their job search. 82 students participated in the session. Another session titled ‘How to manage peer pressure and parental pressure while exploring job opportunities’ was conducted by the Placement Cell to help students navigate their job search with more clarity. The resource person for the session was Mr. Saurabh Jaswal, Centre Director, T.I.M.E. (Triumphant Institute of Management Education Pvt Ltd.) Chandigarh. Mr. Jaswal shared interesting real-life examples to tell students not to be encumbered by the expectations of others and also told them to build bridges with their parents as the piece of advice given by parents is always well-intentioned despite the generation gap. 61 students attended the session. Dr. Nisha Bhargava, the principal of the college, appreciated the efforts of the Placement Cell to not only help students envision their future more clearly but also take the right steps in the right direction to realise their dreams. She encouraged the students to identify their areas of strength and leverage them to choose a vocation as per their aptitude and attitude.
