Setting up of separate Cyber cell in Police Department

HIMACHAL, OCTOBER 29

Governor Bandaru Dattatraya reviewed meeting with Police Department at Raj Bhavan to discuss the huge increase of crime against women and children stressed on setting up CCTV cameras in urban areas of the state. He said that keeping in view the increase in cyber crimes, the police department should set up a separate cyber cell to investigate such cyber crimes.

The Governor also showed satisfaction that figures related to crime against women and children are less in the state and also thanked the efforts of the Police Department. He said that the Department has taken many steps and has been successful in controlling crimes. He appreciated the step of Director General of Police for his initiative of issuing 26 Number register for crime against women and children from 1st August, 2020. Himachal is the first state of the country to start this initiative and is also being followed by other states.

Shri Dattatraya said that crime against women is a very sensitive issue and Police Department has to play important role to check it. It is the responsibility of the Social Justice and empowerment Department to spread awareness and ensure relief and rehabilitation work.

He also said that female officers should be given important responsibility in the Police Department so that women could raise their issues with them and talk without any hesitation. He also said that the department should constitute a separate team of IT specialists.

Additional Chief Secretary Nisha Singh said that first of all we need to expect the fact that women are facing crimes only after them we can work with more sensitivity in this direction. She also stressed on awareness and working on cyber crime and also suggested identifying hot-spots in the city where the police can work actively.

Director General of Police Sanjay Kundu apprised about the steps and action taken by police administration on crimes against women and childern. He said that issues related to crime against women and children were very crucial. He said that Police Department was focusing on crime against married, cyber crime and kidnapping of adolescents. In such cases concrete efforts were being done so that criminals could not get any kind of relief from courts. He said that police was considering to launch Women Cyber Helpline.

DIGP, Crime Bimal Gupta, SP Crime Anupam Sharma, AIG, Dr. Monika Bhutunguru gave power point presentation on issues relating to women and initiatives taken by State Police. Director Information Technology Ashutosh Garg also spoke on the occasion. Senior Officers of Police Department were also present on the occasion
