Chandigarh September 28 2021
Senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader S Bikram Singh Majithia today described the resignation of Navjot Sidhu as PPCC president as “the ultimate expression of frustrations of an egoist seeing his path to Chief Ministership blocked by a leader from the scheduled castes.”

“Sidhu has realized that his gambit of ““use and throw” with someone from the SC community as a part-time and dummy CM only to keep the seat warm for him (Sidhu) till February has boomranged on him. Things have not played to Sidhu’s script and he is unable to live with not being made the Congress’ CM face for the forthcoming poll,” said Mr Majithia in a statement here today, adding, “Sidhu now realizes that the game is up for him as for as his Chief Ministerial ambitions are concerned. Hence this anger and frustration. “
But in the process, said Mr Majithia, Sidhu has cast unforgivable insult on the SC community. “He had earlier played the same communal games against senior Congress leader Sunil Jakhar which humiliated his community. “ These communal and casteist slurs are unforgivable as Punjab symbolizes cultural synthesis, peace and communal harmony and is inspired by the daily Ardas of “Sarbat da bhala.” Sidhu’s games worked against that pious prayer and no wonder Akal Purakh and nature have punished him .”
Mr Majithia said that the sordid drama of the past few weeks had also shown that the upheaval in the Congress was only a battle for spoils and had nothing to do with issues, principles or the interests of the people. “ The Congress leaders were seen fighting for spoils and offices like wolves over crumbs of meat. From the start, it was about nothing except Chief Ministerial ambitions and personal greed and ego. It is the same old team of liquor looters and sand-miners etc with new entrants to the mafia added to it.”
Mr Majithia said that Sidhu’’s frustration flows from his realization that it was easier for Congress to choose an SC face as CM but harder to get rid him now.
The Akali also said that the entire circus has also exposes the Congress to befool the people of the state by putting the entire blame for misgovernance of four and a half years on just one man. They thought that they will paint themselves as clean and blameless after changing the Chief Ministerial face. ” These leaders enjoyed full powers and had a free run in the government all these years. They now wanted to pretend that they were powerless then and seriously believed that Punjabis will be hoodwinked with this trick. But nature has a way of exposing hypocrites. Events of the past fifteen days or so have shown how it was all about ministerial berths and corruption,” said the Akali leader, adding that the Congress leaders wanted to go for a free loot in the last four months also. “But it seems time has run out for them”.EOM
